India has won two ODI World Cups, in 1983 and 2011, and will be hoping for a third later this year when Rohit Sharma’s men compete in the home edition. The team’s most recent World Cup victory came under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, and opener Gautam Gambhir was a significant member of the squad, scoring a brave 97 in the final against Sri Lanka. The former India player played for the country for 12 years, from 2004 to 2016, and reminisced about his formative years watching the Indian team in the 1990s during a mid-match broadcast on Star Sports.
